Day 6 & 7 - Rediscovering Minds

DRAMA

Group 1 played fun games focusing on body control, reflexes and concentration. The kids explored ‘shadow play’ through a story by Sowmya Rajendran-“Power cut”. Children enjoyed exploring different shapes of their hands and bodies that made interesting shadows of animals, etc.

Group II explored ‘feelings & emotions’, through various activities, theatre tasks and questioning. The children were shown a picture and were asked questions based on the picture. For eg.: How do you think the characters in the story are feling?, etc. Issues of ‘bullying’ and peer pressure were addressed and the children empathized with the characters, and learnt a great deal about ‘how to make others feel!’ They categorized various emotions into: ‘feeling good words’ & ‘words that can make other’s feel sad’. With the help of the story- The Island, the children were sensitized towards being kind & generous towards other’s. After this, they improvised another scene from the story.
